Buying a Vacation on eBay

So my fiancee and I recently booked our honeymoon. We're not penny pinchers but we're always after the best deal out there.

For those who have gone on a honeymoon already or who are planning one, you know how expensive it can be. The "dream" vacation almost always is.

So we sat down with a plan of where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do, and we started searching online.

We had settled on the Maldives as a cheaper alternative to Bora Bora and we set about making arrangements to get there through various airlines and online travel agencies.

Then, we thought, "shouldn't we check the typical weather forecasts" for when we were going. Turns out, August/September is when the Maldives gets the most rain... canceling turned out to be the best thing for us.

We went back to the drawing board and opted for Hawaii, and my fiancee had the brilliant idea of looking on eBay... just to make sure that we've looked at all our options.

We were stunned by what we found. Sellers were offering deals on resorts, vacation rentals, cruises and all manner of things. We scanned everything available for Hawaii and double-checked the hotels by reading traveler reviews on Trip Adviser.

We settled on a particular deal for the Four Seasons on Maui. It was simply amazing. We contacted the seller to make sure he was legit and to understand what his purchasing and booking process was. Then we placed our bid.

The beauty with eBay for booking travel is that it's a hidden gem. Most people are unaware of what you can find, or are simply skeptical. So we won the bid easily. While I won't say how much we paid, we got 9 nights for a ridiculous price (hopefully we'll have something good to say when we return).

Check out the going rate for the Four Seasons in Maui and subtract what you think is an incredible deal, and we basically got just that. We were unable to find anything better anywhere online. Period.
