Bali Hotels : Sometimes all it takes is a Dream Villa

One of the tropical destinations of choice in Asia was and is Bali the tiny island in Indonesia.

Charming with its originality of culture and the kind friendliness of its people this tropical island attracts visitors from around the globe looking for that special dream vacation.

This current year we see travellers from the emerging economies of China and India contribute to the ever increasing arrival numbers in Bali.

The latest wave of visitors are looking increasingly for that special touch in hotels to spend the resting hours while staying on the island. The upper end of their interest are villa style accommodations located either within Bali hotels or several dedicated luxury villas.

The resulting building boom in Bali resorts is especially visible in form of small to tiny hotels that sometimes consist of as few as 5 or as many as 50 private villas, many of them with their own private pools.

Seclusion in that environment gives privacy and peace of mind and truly reflects and provides a different experience than just having a typical hotel room. Hotel rooms are usually located in a building of long alleys of rooms, villas are very individually placed and structured.

Interesting developments of the last few years are the Downtown Villas with just 9 luxury villas, The Elysian with 26 villas in that same stylish pool concept that thinks of pools as part of the "indoor experience" while actually it's more that your living room is partly in the tropical open air environment.

Then there is also the Sentosa Private Villas and Spa with 32 elegantly appointed villas that even consist of 5 bedroom villas located also in the heart of the Balinese 'villa center' of Seminyak. This beach attracts everyone that is 'hip' or are willing to become so for a while.

Other worthwhile objects of interest are the Jamahal Private Resort & Spa and the Gangsa, both with just 10 or 11 villas that offer the finer things in life such as spa treatments and gourmet kitchens.

The new contemporary Bali style of architecture is often a very stylish mixture of authentic local concepts and their materials, colors and tones with the best that western influence and comfort has to offer. The resulting concept is never less than stunning and instantly likeable and convincing.

That trend set in Bali was and still is leading world wide in development by bringing true natural ambiente and modern high-tech appliances together, and put design touches and art on top of that.

It's very much a modern utopia that actually became reality here on the island. Why anybody would want to save money on a special trip like that and stay instead in a hotel that also could resemble any other hotel located in NYC, London or Amsterdam style wise is beyond excuse.

You really would miss one of the best opportunities in life to see something completely different than most people ever are able to find in a city.

Of course there is one major point that can trouble the fun even before it starts: Many Bali Villas have such a low quantity of rooms that they basically cannot afford to accept reservations without commitment by people that change plans later on in the year.

So full pre-payment even several months before arrival is generally required to secure any of these villas. This and tough cancellation policies makes it a bit uneasy to accept in people's changing plans and schedules.

Easier terms have the established villas and villa resorts that also accept last-minute bookings without any problems. Some of these are the Bagus Jati, one of the most interesting villa resorts in Ubud the center of cultural Bali. Or also the Elysian if it has to be 'the beach' location.

How did all that local villa development come to life? It all started basically with The Oberoi Bali in Legian, that secured a big space directly on the beach ahead of the mainstream and generously layed out its gardens with private Villas and luxury Lanais. Right next to all the in-restaurants and its beach folks that are around until late clubbing through the night.

Secluded in the southern Jimbaran tip is the Ritz Carlton Bali that defined the essence of a dream vacation in style in actual reality. Not only fantastic villas on cliffs also some more affordable deluxe rooms and suites that set a standard that many Bali hotels try to recreate since then.

This resort is still the original in the 'Ritz experience' however and shows every willing student of style and life how original Bali style natural luxury should and indeed can look like.

Island destination help is useful if written in books, even more useful if it comes from someone that actually lived there over 10 years. The same goes for hotel and villa reservations as in bali hotels. Why go for the new hopeful when you can have the bali experts that care for you until everything is perfectly to your request. Some frequent travelers visit us year after year, and it all started after switching from one of these global service providers that offer any hotel in any city, without knowing any of them personally. We prefer to be practically competent and helpful so everyone enjoys and gets the best out it. And quite honest, for upmarket properties this site is also cheaper than the competition, just to prove the point that it's possible to be personal without being pricey.

Plan Your Cruise Vacation And Save Time And Money

Once you decide that you'd like to cruise, there are a number of other things to consider to enhance your cruise as well as make it go smoothly.

Naturally you need to sort out things like when and where you want to cruise as well as with which cruiseline, which ship and what things you want to do off the ship. Do you want to cruise to Alaska and watch whales or stay warm and cruise the Caribbean?

Would you rather sail on a massive ocean liner or does a smaller, more elegant vessel interest you? Are you ready to leave tomorrow or would you rather wait and search out the deals? When the ship docks in the various ports of call, will you remain on the ship, head out shopping or go on a fun filled, exciting shore excursion?

There are a few ways you can collect this information and doing the leg work up front will save you time, money and aggravation down the road I promise you that. Saving the legwork and getting right down to the good stuff is what most people are after.

I have written three books on cruising and have compiled all of the slick tricks that I've learned into the books for you to have all the info you need together in one spot. Follow the link in my resource box and have a look.

You should also search out, join and familiarize yourself with the Cruise message boards. On these boards, members will post their reviews of everything from flights to ships to shore excursions and more in great detail. Do take these reviews with a grain of salt though. Some of the people seem like they couldn't have fun anywhere!

This is an excellent way to find out about the various shore excursions. Members will report back on what tours they did, what operators they liked or disliked, any problems they had and more.

In many cases, someone on a forum will start a post called a "roll call". This is a gathering place for passengers of a specific sailing date for a specific ship and I highly recommend you search them out. If you cannot find a roll call for your cruise...create one! How you say? It's very easy...

Let's say you are cruising on the Carnival Legend from February 17th to February 24th. You would simply search for or create a post called "Carnival Legend - Feb. 17th to Feb. 24th" People will find it, trust me!

Once a few of your cruisemates find your post, you will be able to swap plans and stories, maybe learn a tips or two and maybe even make some friends. My wife and I always make a point to meet up somewhere on the ship with our roll call friends and we've remained friends with some of them to this day.

Let's not forget your friendly local travel agent. Sure you can research and book your flights and cruises all by yourself online, but if you find it overwhelming, don't be afraid to let the professionals take care of you.

Sometimes paying a few extra dollars is worth it to know that someone else has taken care of the details. My guides and the forum participation will still insure that you are able to make informed decisions.

Before you go

I'm generally not a paranoid person, but would like to share a few security tips that could help keep things secure while you're on your vacation. Before you leave for your cruise, it might be a good idea to call the post office and have them stop delivery of your mail.

If you haven't arranged for someone to come and get your mail while they feed your pets, you might want to look into that. A large pile of mail sticking out of your mailbox is telling sign for thieves to come and rip you off.

Your home phone should either have the ringer turned off or have you answering machine set to pick up on two rings. This could reduce the risk of someone figuring out that you're not home.

If you happen to live in a snowy part of the world, your driveway might get snowy while you're gone and if you haven't got any tire tracks in your driveway, this could be all the indication thieves need to know it's safe to enter your home.

Rather than rely on mail stoppages, answering machines and light timers, I prefer to keep things looking natural while away. I always have a friend come over to get the mail and feed the cat as a minimum. If they are a really good friend, they'll shovel the driveway and walk, but people don't like to do their own shoveling let alone yours, so why not have it done?

One way is to pay the neighbour kid a flat rate to keep it shoveled while you're gone. Letting his/her parents know when you'll be leaving and returning as well as what you've asked to have done is probably not a bad idea.

If you know someone with a plow or have a local plow service, you can ask them to come scrape your driveway after each snow. I guess if you're really cheap, you could just have the friend drive on your driveway when they come to get the mail.

At any rate, chances are that someone isn't lying in the bushes waiting for you to go on vacation so you'll have to gauge the risk and do what gives you piece of mind.

Next time I'll cover packing and preparing for your cruise. If you want to cut to the chase and get right into the info, stop by http://www.cruisevacationparadise.com/ and pick up one or all of my cruise ship tips books. They contain a vast amount of information that will allow you to select and prepare for the cruise vacation of a life time! Until next time, be well and happy cruising!

Paradise is just a sail away!

Remember that you are going to want to look after them the whole time and that can be kind of tough.

Ski Vacations - How to Rent Ski Equipment

Ski vacations will require ski equipment. But whether you buy your ski equipment or rent it will depend, for the most part, on whether you're a beginning skier or a pro on the slopes. If you're a beginner or just trying out the sport, it will probably make more sense for you to rent the equipment before investing your money in what can be an expensive purchase.

Many local ski shops rent ski equipment, and they may even have lease packages where you can lease everything you need for an entire season of skiing. This can be an excellent option of those who take several ski vacations a year.

One advantage of renting at a local shop near you is that it'll probably be less expensive and you can pick up your equipment ahead of time instead of waiting in long lines and paying higher rental prices when you get to the ski resort.

The downside of renting locally is transporting your ski equipment from home to the resort. Some ski resort shops allow their customers to store their equipment during the day or overnight for free, which is a nice benefit when you return from a tiring day on the slopes.

Most rental packages will include skis, boots and poles. You should have a choice of beginner or performance skis. Most shops have equipment for junior skiers. Skiing helmets may be available for an additional charge. That extra expense is well worth the safety you'll enjoy by wearing a helmet.

Many parents make sure their children who are skiing wear helmets whether they want to or not. There is always a chance when the slopes are full that accidents and collisions will happen.

Keep in mind that when you sign up for ski lessons at a resort, many packages will include the price for equipment that you can use all day. Most instructors will make sure that you are completely outfitted before taking you out to the slopes. Ski vacations that include lessons for beginners can be fun for the whole family!

Rental equipment usually includes skis, ski boots, ski poles and helmets.

Skiers will usually have the option of renting items individually or as a package. Many resorts also offer combinations of different ski equipment items such as skis and boots, helmets and poles, skis and poles, etc. Some ski resorts will offer full-day prices or prices for afternoon-only skiing.

Some packages will cost as little as $20 per day, others can cost $50 or more for 24 hours. Some ski resorts automatically add on damage insurance for a few dollars per day; it may be worthwhile to take the insurance if you are a beginning skier.

If you refuse insurance, just a minor accident could cost you much more than it would have cost if you had paid for the insurance to begin with.

Plan ahead and reserve your ski rental equipment in advance, especially during peak season. That way you'll know for sure that the equipment you want is available and ready when you get there to pick it up.

Discount Hotel Coupons - Top 5 Places To Find Savings

Almost every hotel and motel chain in the world offer discount coupons to the public. The problem for most people is finding them before taking the vacation!

While the savings are usually between 5 and 20%, having an additional $10 or $20 per night can add up over a week-long vacation. Here are 5 great places to look for discount hotel coupons before your next trip.

Start with a Travel Agent

Local travel agents spend their entire day making sure that people plan their vacations through an agent. At the same time, hotels are constantly competing for your business and need to find ways to attract your consumer dollars. Hotels and motels need to be creative and get their brand and offers into the hands of the experts. By offering discount hotel coupons to travel agents and other travel service advisors, they are able to increase their brand awareness and have more rooms sold!

Local Tourism Offices

The secret is out! Local tourism offices not only offer advice on where to stay and what to do but also have great special offers for rooms and other attractions. You can get free passes, maps, attraction savings and, you guessed it, great hotel discount coupons. Very often, state tourism offices will create a "pass book" of local attractions for the public. Inside, they allow hotels and motels to advertise their hotels - in exchange for special offers to customers.

You can even find "get your second night free" for midweek stays or restaurant offers. Either way, phone the local tourism office and ask them to mail a discount coupon book well before you travel.

Airlines and other travel services

Airlines are the kings of forming partnerships and sweetening the offer. Be it a airline-hotel-rental car partnership or some other combination, there are many great deals if you take advantage. When you're booking your plane ticket, make sure to check out their "deals" or "special offers" section for cheap hotel rates, car rental or attraction passes.

Web Savings

We have arrived in the digital age! There are literally thousands of places to find discount hotel coupons online. Your best bet is to go to Google and type in "Discount Hotel Coupons" into your browser. This will result in a large number of different service providers who continually update their database with new offers. Many websites also provide ongoing information about how to save when you travel.

Ask the Hotels!

Usually, the best place to start is at the hotel directly. If you're looking for a discount hotel coupon and have been unable to find anything, give them a call and ask about your options. Credit Card membership? Frequent flier cards? Roadside assistance? Senior Citizen? Veterans?

The people and memberships that offer discount hotel rooms these days are growing steadily so make sure you get all the information up front. If they have an offer, they will be more than happy to add the discount to your file.

Final Thoughts

Finding discount hotel coupons for almost anywhere in the world is easy once you know where to look. Using these 5 places as a starting point, you will be sure to save on your travels!

Advice For Choosing Between Tours Vs Hotels

Deciding where to go for a relaxing vacation can actually be stressful in and of itself. And if you are a part of a couple, then reaching an agreement on where to go could get downright frustrating.

The options can get overwhelming: there are European backpacking excursions, Serengeti safaris and Adventure cruises to choose from. Planning ahead and being organized can go a long way in a vacation search.

Write down a list of the places where you think you would get the most relaxation and pleasure out of visiting. You could even seek the advice of a travel agent and seek information, negative and positive, about a potential vacation spot.

After the initial search and research, you should place the vacation spot options in order of the best to the worst. The negatives should play a really big part in your decision making process because something that may seem small will loom large once the vacation begins. So do not make oversights when it comes to what you foresee might be an issue on a trip. Make honest assessments.

Your budget should also wield a lot of influence over your vacation decision. Make sure to make decisions that will be financially sound and responsible. There is no sense in spending extravagantly for a relaxing vacation only to come back home from it stressed out over spending money that you did not have.

A working budget for a vacation should include an extra padding of money that is "just-in-case" money. Because of the multitude of location options, a budget will determine whether or not a trip can be taken overseas or only within one's native country. And after the bulk of money is spent on the expenses of the ticket to the destination, one must keep in mind that money will or might be needed for travel, food, doctor trips if necessary, and souvenir expenses.

After comparing and contrasting the money that each type of trip might cost, one will gain more insight as to what will be worth the value of it.

The adventure travel vacation can take many forms because that is the nature of them: they are unconventional and carry a certain risk to them. That is wherein the thrill lies. You can kayak not far from glaciers in Alaska or you can go to South America to brave the rapids of the Amazon River instead.

One can engage in such enthralling activities, or one can instead indulge in a location's top-notch restaurants and plush offerings of its all inclusive hotels. It is all about what aspects of a vacation are most important to you.

Adventure Travel cruises provide something that a stay in a luxury hotel in a place like Europe does not have: options.

If you pick an Egyptian cruise on the Nile, your room is not stationary. Instead, the pyramids are suddenly outside your window and you are able to go explore and photograph them with a guide leading the way.

An ecological tour is what you will find where rain forests are ventured into on an Amazon River cruise. Adventure cruises give a traveler choice and easy access to the destinations they desire. That is why it is important to think thoroughly about what you want out of adventure travel excursion so as to get the most out of it.

However, you would instead opt for the luxury hotel in any one of them offered across Europe. But you will have to think about what type transportation you will use that is the most financially sound and which destinations to visit. That is what a cruise can offer you: access to the best, little known and seen sights that a stay at a luxury hotel might not yield.

Planning your vacation and the locations you want to visit is not a challenge because all you have to do is sit and write and organized itinerary. But finding the right travel package could be difficult as you might not know all of the venues that could provide the exact trip you want.

A travel agent could give you the sources that will lead you to the best deals for exactly what you want. Or become a member of a travel club member which should offer information and resources that you can research yourself.

The Better Business Bureau, friends/relatives, and the Chamber of Commerce are where you can find information and leads on dependent travel agents in and around your local neighborhood.
